What’s the biggest thing in our class?
In Cambridge Primary Maths class, Grade 0 students made observations and comparisons about length using comparative language, e.g. longer/shorter. They used the non standard units of measure such as blocks and crayons to measure the length of a giant’s footprint. Students cut out their own footprints, measured them against a giant’s and tried to estimate how many footprints would make up the length of a rug in our classroom. Finally, they rolled their playdough into worms to compare their lengths.
